Antique Pot Confit from Provence-Glazed Interior |
Minor Rubs and Chips to Limewash – Late 1800’s This charming antique French confit pot from France has the beautiful yellow glaze on its interior, top lip and upper third portion of the pot with “drips” running down the sides. The lower two thirds is unglazed terra cotta, beutifully aged by the sun over time. There has been a limewash added at some point in its history. Originally, these were used to conserve various foods. The “drips” were done on purpose so that vermin could not reach the food. This particular antique confit pot is unusually tall and thus, more rare. |
