An Antique German Hand Forged Iron Decanter Made by Asbach-Uralt– Age: Early 1900’s

This hand forged iron decanter tilts for pouring into other receptacles and not disturbing the sediment. This particular model was most likely designed to hold a larger Asbach-Uralt bottle.

The front bottom bears the name Asbach-Uralt,  a German family owned brandy distillery and chocolate company dating back to 1892, when Hugo Asbach founded the company.  German brandies were prohibited from being labeled “cognac” after the treaty of Versailles, which designated this appellation only for brandies distilled in the Cognac region of France.  Their brandy filled chocolates are absolutely wonderful.
