A beautiful and towering French monstrance, measuring 37 inches tall. Hand-carved in the 1700s, the giltwood architectural piece is in the form of a Gothic church, with the niche “entrance” serving as the feretory for storing relics.
CONDITION: Strong antique condition with commensurate losses, including the cross stipes. Old gilt touchups, with some still visible light rubs, that have revealed traces of red bole, which is a desired trait. Very light age separations. Slight wear to the upholstery of the feretory.
