Description

A rather versatile Spanish piece of furniture from the 1700s, this walnut table has a narrow profile (26 inches deep) that allows it to function as a console, a desk, or a small library table. The single plank top overhangs significantly on the shorter sides, but the two longer ends have less of a projection, allowing the table to be positioned in less spacious areas. Beneath is a frieze consisting of four belt drawers with pendant pulls and shallow geometric carvings, which are good indicators of the age and origin of the table, as these are hallmarks of 18th century Spanish tables. The same can be said of the wide, open lyre trestle legs that are festooned with subtle fretwork. Our Spanish walnut table exudes character, which is enhanced by slight undulations to the top and the visible dowel construction, making this an attractive option for all interior design styles.

CONDITION: Good antique condition. Light losses as a result of old woodworm damage, mostly located on the feet. Commensurate nicks and rubs. Evidence of old restoration, such as replacing a drawer guide and strengthening of legs.
