A beautifully carved Spanish ceiling medallion, dating to the 1700s. The thick foliate center is surrounded by a spoked array of margents on scrolled consoles detailed with shallow fluting. Large acanthus leaves separate the consoles, with trace elements of a green, cream, and red finish.
CONDITION: Strong antique condition. Commensurate age separations. Old woodworm, leading to some losses, fills, and other restoration. Remnants of a polychrome finish remain, but most of the paint is lost.
