Hand-carved in the 1800s on the island of Corsica, a territorial collective of France located in the Mediterranean, this door has a repeating chevron design, radiating from a central lozenge. The thick door is impressive, with each segment of the lozenge and chevrons being lined up perfectly, in the vein of parquetry.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Commensurate age separations to the chevron and lozenge. Minor nicks and losses. Two gudgeons are present, but no other hardware exists.
