The serenity of this French oil on canvas painting from the 1800s is quite amazing. Walking on a large, jutting crag, two women approach a chateau nestled in the valley of mountainous terrain. The sky is virtually cloudless, as the sun sets behind a range of mountains in the far distance.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Small patches to verso of canvas, which has light craquelure. Minor age separations and losses to gilt frame, with old touchups. Not rigged for hanging.
