Description

The applications of this Spanish library table desk from the 1900s are quite numerous, as the size allows it to be used in a variety of ways. Hand-carved in the traditional manner of Spanish tables, the 70 ½ inch long table features curvaceous iron stretchers and three shallow belt drawers with geometric dentil carvings and pendant pulls. The top overhangs the frieze significantly, but with a thickness of only an inch and five-eighths, the profile of the table is rather thin. Supported by a pair of curvaceous lyre leg trestle legs with subtle fretwork, the table is structurally sound but with an artistic silhouette. A pair of undulating iron stretchers connect the top to the legs, further augmenting the stability without making the table too robust. Spanish tables were typically constructed so that they could be easily transported, and this table is no exception. Our Spanish table can function as a writing desk, library table, or even a sofa table.
