Dating to circa 1900, this charming French well head is a replica of an original 15th-century well covering. The original well head was owned by Francois Sauvage, who controlled the silver during the reign of Charles VIII. The original well head was moved to Musee de Cluny in Paris during the mid-1800s.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor scratches to the well, with some light losses. The iron overthrow is no longer inset within the stone, but it still stands without aid. Very light oxidation to the iron.
