Known as a Biot pot (named after the French town where they originated in the Middle Ages), this bulbous terracotta pot has a beige hue with a ring of yellow glaze near the opening. The glaze has been stamped with a Maltese Cross, which is a symbol of the town of Biot, and was one of six seals used on Biot pots during the 1600s (see last detail photo).
CONDITION: Strong antique condition. Visible restorations that are quite old. Excess glaze on one side. Minor interior buildup. Fleabites and light pitting, with larger inherent cavitations to the interior.
