This pair of French bronze and marble candelabras from the 1800s have various motifs in the style of Egyptian revival. Most noticeably, the three foliate bobeches sit atop a pair of ibis, which in ancient Egyptian civilization symbolized wisdom and communication. Several ankhs (meaning “life”) can be seen around the birds, as well as a pair of asps and stylized hieroglyphics on the black marble base.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition. Minor buildup. Light rubs.
