This cherrywood tilt-top table would have been used as a wine tasting table at a French vineyard around 1890. Tables such as these, which fold up when not in use, would have been used to display current vintages. The uniqueness of this table can be seen in the swivel support, which has been hand-carved as an open lyre. The table has also been fitted with small caster wheels under the scrolled feet, making it even easier to maneuver into the proper position.
CONDITION: Strong antique condition. Commensurate age separation to the top, which has an old restoration, and has been professionally strengthened more recently. Minor nicks with fleabites and light losses from old woodworm, mostly seen on the base.
