French architecture in the style of Louis XIV was designed to be imposing, as these elements often fronted grand châteaux and hôtels particuliers. This iron-studded door from Provence is no exception, as noted by the five and a half inch thick kickplate. Hand-carved in the 1800s, the door has been bleached more recently, exposing the incredible oak wood grain and old, character-defining restorations.

CONDITION: Good antique condition. Light age separations, nicks, and rubs, with very light losses. The door has been bleached more recently, with residual traces of the original finish. Old restorations present. The lower half of the backplate is missing, with varying degrees of oxidation to the nailheads and iron mounts. Key included (see detail photos).
