Dating to the 1800s, this polychrome trunk from Normandy, France, was likely given as a wedding dowry. Hand-painted with a dark green ground, the vibrant motifs of green, gold, red, white, and blue include swags, birds, and an urn with a floral bouquet. Numerous flowers can be seen all over the facades and the domed top, all of which have a thin gray border.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Very light woodworm damage to interior. Minor age separations, nicks, and losses with light undulations to the exterior. The hasp is slightly misaligned, but still functions. No key.
