This Italian (Venetian) wrought iron and tole lantern dates to the 1920s. The main body has four glass panes accompanied by four offset lights atop flat, scalloped bobeches topped by faux white candle sleeves. Each bobeche is affixed to the top of curled leaf that rises upward with a twisted shaft. The twist terminates in a small whorl that abuts the underside of a large tole leaf curl.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Wired for use in American homes. Light buildup to the glass, which might be more recent. Very light losses to the tole finish, with one iron that surrounds the glass, having remnants of gold paint. Please see detail photos.
