Dating to circa 1600, this German trunk was hand-carved in oak at the end of the Gothic period. Known as a stollentruhe, the robust trunk is still adorned with the original iron straps and butterfly lock plate. The massive storage space includes a small till, which would have been used to store smaller items.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Very light age separations. No key. A small fill to the top, with larger restoration to the feet, indicative of being stored on cold, damp floors. Very light traces of old woodworm losses.
