The intricate motifs of this beautiful golden oak cabinet feature religious iconography paired with elaborate foliate tracery, rosettes within roundels, and climbing vines for pilasters, all in the style of French Gothic. Hand-carved circa 1870, the half-octagonal cabinet has a pleasant caramel patina, with the carved areas presenting as a darker shade of brown.

Two horizontal iron straps festooned with fluted lozenges allow the four-paneled door to open, revealing two shelves. The upper panels of the door are recessed but filled with amazingly detailed carvings of a saint beneath leafy tracery. A band of connected roundels filled with rosettes separates the upper panels from the two lower ones, which are adorned with more fenestrage of foliage. Similar interlaced vines can be seen on other panels that grace the other sides of the cabinet, except the upper panel of each angled side, which also depicts a saint genuflecting beneath the ornamental niches. All sides are separated by half-column pilasters in the form of a flowering margent topped by a toupie finial. A robust apron, embellished with a deep recessed channel, is almost flush with the floor, offering plenty of support.

Similar to a pier cabinet, the geometric shape of this well-carved cabinet allows it to be placed against a narrow wall or a large corner. The outward projection allows the magnificent carvings to be seen from multiple angles.
