This quaint fountain element or spout was produced in France about the 1920s. Known as a mascaron, the cast iron lion is depicted with an open mouth. An item such as this would typically be hung from a wall, with water cascading from the 1 ½” diameter opening. Surrounded by a detailed mane, the expressive lion has a dark brown hue, which has been updated more recently. Our French cast iron lion fountain element could be incorporated into an outdoor fountain or pond. It could also be used indoors as a bathroom sink spout or a decorative wall element.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition. Very light rubs and fleabites. The iron has been refinished more recently.
