The carvings of this oak trunk are quite impressive, with some motifs being faintly carved, while other elements have great depth.  Dating to the 1700s, the French trunk features a facade that is adorned with two large lozenges.  Two smaller lozenges can also be seen, above slender niches embellished subtle crenellation above cavernous scalloped shells.  The interior, which is lined with a vibrant fabric of sunbursts and geometric borders, has a lidded till in the left corner, allowing storage of smaller items.

CONDITION:  Good antique condition.  Minor nicks and losses, with a fill to the top, as a result of old woodworm.  Light age separations.  Functioning lock with key.  The interior upholstery has areas of lifting due to missing nailheads, some of which have been replaced by pushpins.  The handle on the right side has been professionally restored by a metalworker.  Please handle with caution when moving the trunk around.
