The form of this French hunt buffet is known as a St Hubert, with the back wall having shelves. The carvings are all-encompassing and quite amazing, ranging from scalloped shell handles of the three belt drawers to the hunt and fish trophies that adorn each of the four doors. The original finish has been removed, leaving the wood a beige hue with accents of brown and white, as well as hand-painted moldings and top of the lower section in parcel gray.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor losses and age separations. Three seen locks, all functional with own key, plus three “secret” locks, all functional too. Old restoration, including the bleaching of the buffet and the addition of painted gray accents to moldings and top of lower section.
