A beautiful walnut stool, dating to circa 1700, making this a period Louis XIV French tabouret. The hand-carved wood has a rich brown patina that accentuates the sinuous lyre legs and H-stretcher. Upholstered with a fragment from an antique Aubusson tapestry of royal blue, gold, black, and brown, set within a blue velvet border.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Fleabites and very light nicks and rubs to wood. The tabouret has been reupholstered more recently, using a fragment of an antique Aubusson tapestry (possibly 17th/18th century).
