A beautifully rendered Gustavian-style secretary, hand-carved in Sweden, circa 1900. The exterior has a hand-painted cream finish (added more recently) that has been lightly scraped to complete the distressed look. Ample storage is paired with a slanted drop-down writing surface, making this a functional secretary.
CONDITION: Strong antique condition. Currently a broken molding (see detail photo) that will be restored professionally. Minor nicks and rubs. A total of six keys for seven locks, all of which function, although some require a delicate touch. Old restoration to interior sections, with the distressed painted finish being added more recently.
