A must-have for any animal or dog lover, this sculpture of a sleeping hound was hand-carved in the 1900s. The alabaster comes from the famed Italian region, Volterra, but more specifically, the stone is Bardiglio gray. Bardiglio gray is a prized alabaster, as its cloudy appearance is full of movement, which renders some amazing coloring, as seen here in the sleeping dog, which is cream with heavy gray swirlings and fainter ochre inflections.
CONDITION: Very good condition. Minimal scratches and fleabites. Small restoration to a paw and ear. Very light buildup.
