L. Tendrerie was a French coppersmith (chaudronnier) active in Paris during the late 19th and early 20th C. The “L” in the company name stands for Léon, the founder of the business. 44 Rue Pasquier: This was the most prominent address associated with his later work and is the stamp most frequently found on surviving antique copperware.

You can see this production mark next to one of the handles.  The long fish poacher from the 1800s, known in France as a poissonnière, would have been used to cook fish before the advent of modern heating technologies.  Both of the long sides are adorned with repeating borders at the top and bottom, with a textured center beneath elaborate illustrations.  The front has a shaped shield topped by an open crown and flanked by two rampant lion supporters standing on large, curled leaves.  The opposite side depicts a crinkled ribbon bow accompanied by two smaller bows holding floral swags.

CONDITION:  Good antique condition.  Minor nicks, rubs, and cavitations.  Very light losses to copper finish.
