Measuring six feet tall with a diameter of over four feet, this painted and gilded wooden chandelier is designed to be installed in a large area, such as a grand foyer, formal dining room, or above an open stairwell. Hand-carved in the early 1900s, the stunning light source features eight arms comprised of scrolls, curled leaves, and a tassel noix. Each arm has a geometric bobeche with a lobed, cylindrical cup that supports a long, faux white candle sleeve. The arms attach to the cylindrical main body in the form of a curled leaf rising from a square joinery detailed with a rosette. A large, undulating noix hangs beneath, embellished with leaf cups and a golden ball that supports another tassel. At the top of the main body is another leaf cup, topped by a deeply fluted, tapering neck that rises to a lobed canopy with a golden ball finial. The wood has been hand-painted with a cream finish, allowing the giltwood elements to gain prominence, accented by the presence of red bole. It is a stunning example of an Italian Florentine chandelier, characterized by the ornate, architectural carvings and refined ornamentation.

CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor gilt losses, revealing red bole, which is desired. Light nicks and rubs. The chandelier was carved in multiple sections and has been professionally assembled and wired for use in American homes.
