This towering wall fountain is a unique example of a French Provincial garden element. Comprised of 20 hand-carved limestone pieces, the large fountain features an arched crown that softens the robust rectilinear basin. Interestingly, one of the six basin stones has an iron ring embedded in it, a callback to times when villagers would use a beast of burden to carry receptacles of water for cooking and cleaning. The citizens would place their vessels on the two iron bars that span the basin, as water emitted from the scrolled iron spout that emerges from a carved concentric circular aperture. Ogee corbels, a protruding transverse, and thick moldings to the arch add embellishments to the wide wall. The stones have a cream hue, with accents of gray and white. Standing over six and a half feet tall, our limestone wall fountain would make a wonderful addition to any landscape, such as a courtyard or next to a backyard terrace.

CONDITION: Good condition with intentional distress, presenting as nicks and losses. Oxidation to iron elements, although the two bars have significantly less than the scrolled spout and hitching ring. A hole has been carved in the back of the basin as an alternative option for plumbing and electrical. Limestone can change colors with exposure to the elements.
