The decorative motifs of this Venetian gilt metal and glass lantern are exquisite, as noted by the detailed foliate and floral margents. Perhaps the most impressive element is the pair of arms that start at the top of the main body, before uniting to form a pointed noix beneath a three-ringed leaf cup. Nestled amongst the trailing margents are florets, wheat stalks with wire awns, and spiraling tendrils of acanthus leaves.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Very light scratches to glass. Commensurate buildup and oxidation to metal, with minor wear, such as losses to gilding, rubs, and small areas of indentation. Wired professionally for US homes.
