Hand-carved and painted in Florence, Italy, this armorial cassone dates to the 1800s. The trunk has subtle curvature, such as the slightly flared out arbalete front apron and the sides. The front features a magnificent display of Neoclassical imagery, including mythical creatures, cornucopias above a vase, and genii with flower rinceaux, all flanked by a pair of oval coat of arms cartouches.
CONDITION: Good antique condition. Minor nicks and rubs to wood, accompanied by losses to paint. Light age separations. Functional lock with key.
