This pair of French panels features a beautiful blend of burl and ebonized walnut with hand-carved oak hunt motifs. Dating to circa 1870, the rectangular panels have a caramel hue with darker swirls of burl markings. The ebonized border with thin moldings that envelops the hunt trophies is matched by dark carvings, such as the crinkled ribbon bows, fruits, nuts, and hunting horn seen behind the felled game. One panel depicts a pheasant, while the other has a rabbit surmounting the wreaths of foliage.
CONDITION: Very good antique condition. Minor nicks, rubs, and age separations. Very light losses to carved motifs. Not rigged for hanging.
