The thickness of this round table top (three and a quarter inches) is quite unusual, enhancing the visible charm of this wonderful Italian table. Hand-carved circa 1800 in Bologna, the walnut table is braced by four robust legs that form crisscrossed open lyre legs. The wide stance of the legs provides stability, as does the elaborately fretted X-stretcher.
CONDITION: Strong antique condition. Commensurate losses from old woodworm damage, which has necessitated old restoration and fills. Minor nicks and rubs. Inherent age separations, with a slight undulation at the edge of the top.
